In 1954, following World War II, Frank Michell amalgamated with Robert Crooks, establishing a partnership that marked the beginning of what would become a leading engineering consultancy.

In 1956, Frank Michell bought out Robert Crooks' share, assuming full ownership of the company. This pivotal move allowed Frank to steer the company towards significant growth and expansion over the next five years, laying the groundwork for its emergence as a leading engineering consultancy.

In 1961, Ted Peacock and J.R. (Ian) Stewart, formerly chief architect with the Malaysian Public Works Department, joined as partners leading to the renaming of the company to Crooks Michell Peacock and Stewart (CMPS). This strategic rebranding established CMPS as one of Australia's largest consulting engineering firms. Capitalizing on emerging opportunities, CMPS expanded its global footprint by establishing branches in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Singapore, effectively tapping into the Southeast Asian market.

In 1962, Mr. Chan Yew Liang joined R Crooks, Michell & Peacock in Kuala Lumpur, bringing fresh expertise after obtaining his Bachelor in Civil Engineering from the University of Malaya, Malaysia. His addition strengthened the company's presence in the region, laying the groundwork for future expansions and enhancing CMP's reputation in Southeast Asia.

Crooks Michell Peacock and Stewart (CMPS) officially incorporated in 1971, becoming Crooks Michell Peacock Stewart Pty Ltd (CMPS Pty Ltd). Since then, CMPS Pty Ltd had went on to undertake some prominent projects:

In 1973, Mr. Chan Yew Liang was appointed Managing Director of CMP Consultants Pte Ltd in Singapore on June 2. He began his leadership tenure, guiding the company with vision and dedication until June 30, 2017. Under his leadership, CMP Consultants expanded its reach and solidified its reputation as a key player in the engineering sector.

In 1976, Jurutera CMP Sdn Bhd was established in Malaysia in alignment with the Government’s New Economic Policy. This wholly local-owned entity undertook numerous renowned and prominent projects, marking CMP's commitment to addressing regional needs and fostering local partnerships.

In January 2016, Mr. Chan Yew Liang reviewed the first fifty-five years of the company’s history, reflecting on CMP's growth and achievements since its inception. This historical review underscored the company's enduring legacy and its continuous evolution in the engineering industry.

On June 30, 2017, Mr. Chan Yew Liang concluded his role as Managing Director of CMP Consultants Pte Ltd. His leadership left a lasting legacy of expansion, innovation, and excellence, guiding CMP through decades of successful projects and strategic growth. Mr. Wong Kian Keong has since then taken over the role of Managing Director.

In 2024, a new branch was established in Australia and branded as CMP Australasia Pty Ltd. This new establishment facilitated the unification of branches in Australia, Malaysia, and Singapore, forming CMP Hub. This integration created a stronger, more cohesive global entity, leveraging each region’s expertise to drive innovation and comprehensive engineering solutions worldwide.
